According to The Thaiger, the accident occurred last Wednesday, May 17, when a high-speed The Thanathip Marine 555 pleasure boat was returning from Phi Phi Island to Chalong Cape (Phuket Island) and at some point crashed into a huge concrete pillar. As a result of the incident, four Thais and 33 foreign tourists, mostly Russians, were injured. It is assumed that the boat driver fell asleep at the wheel.
