  • Another closure of the airports of the Black Sea resorts: Russian tourists are changing orientation

The deadlines for closing airports in Russian southern resorts are approaching the May holidays. According to the latest order of the Federal Air Transport Agency, the temporary restriction of flights to Russian airports in the south of the country and in central Russia has been extended until April 19, 2022. And, judging by the other precautionary measures that have been introduced, one can not expect them to open – at least until the May holidays, or even until the summer season.

“Until April 19, 2022, 03:45 Moscow time, the mode temporary restrictions on flights to 11 Russian airports: Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista. Russian airlines are recommended to organize the transportation of passengers on alternative routes using the airports of Sochi, Volgograd, Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol and Moscow,” the Federal Air Transport Agency said.

Recall that according to the statements of tour operators, this situation has already affected demand – a significant decline is recorded in Crimea. This is primarily due to the closure of the airport. And according to ATOR, this summer the reorientation of Russian tourists to the beach resorts of the Caspian Sea is not ruled out due to the closure of the Simferopol airport and high prices for tours to Sochi. Moreover, charters will fly to Dagestan this year for the first time: thanks to these factors, Russian tourists are gradually changing their orientation from the Black Sea resorts to the Caspian ones, and the predicted increase in the tourist flow to the Caspian Sea is + 40% compared to the data of summer 2021.

< p> The fact that in the regions of Crimea bordering with Ukraine, as well as in other border regions – in Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk – plays into the hands of such a forecast is the “yellow level of terrorist threat”. Which can also not have the best effect on tourism.
