Despite the sanctions: Russian tour operators have found a way to send Russians to Cyprus by offering them a new type of tour

For Russian tourists who want to get to their favorite European resorts in defiance of sanctions, there are more and more detour routes, and the most non-trivial ones. On the eve of the 2023 summer season, Russian tour operators have found a way to send Russians to Cyprus by offering them a new type of tour. We are talking about “bypass routes” through Kuwait, on the wings of the Kuwaiti carrier Jazeera Airways, which, according to ATOR, were announced by the tour operator FUN&SUN (former Russian TUI).

As the experts of the tour operator explained, the flights will be carried out by a connecting flight with an intermediate landing in Kuwait, as a result, the flight time will not be very convenient – more than 11 hours. The program is announced from 04/29/2023 to 10/23/2023, with flights three times a week from Moscow – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Out of 11 hours, 2 hours 40 minutes will take docking in Kuwait, while tourists will not need to pick up luggage. On the return route, the docking will take three hours.

At the same time, as experts add, prices come out “interesting” in terms of cost. A 7-night tour package for the May holidays with a departure on April 29 for two to a 3 * hotel in Ayia Napa will cost from 144,074 rubles. for two. In 4 * – from 152 028 rubles. for two, and 5 * will cost from 184,418 rubles. for two. For the summer, prices for “fours” will rise to a level of 161 thousand, for “five” – from 199 thousand rubles. As noted in ATOR, at the same time, Turkey that is not closed for the summer is sold on average for 130-180 rubles. for similar offers, that is, the prices of Cyprus look quite reasonable. True, as the tour operators add, in complicating circumstances it is worth adding the need to apply for a visa to Cyprus, since now Russians are not given free electronic visas. However, a visa through a tour operator takes 10 days and costs 90 euros per adult.

So the most “complicating” circumstance can still be considered 11 hours of flight. It is not surprising that for the second year the tourist community has been periodically disturbed by statements from the leadership of the unrecognized Republic of Northern Cyprus. Closer to the summer season, the topic of “probable flights to Russia” from Northern Cyprus again occupies the pages of the Turkish media. The Minister of Public Works and Transport of Northern Cyprus, Erhan Arikly, again made a statement about this. He announced that the local airline will operate its first flight on April 16 – we are talking, however, about flights to Turkey. However, he also noted that “two major Russian tour operators” gave permission to open flights to Northern Cyprus. Read the details in this TURPROM article.
