Do not drink on the street, do not expose your stomach: a popular resort has introduced new bans for tourists

Do not drink outside, do not bare your belly: a popular resort has introduced new bans for tourists

Spanish Canary Islands introduce strict new penalties for tourists, including strict rules for the use of balconies. The popular tourist destination has been working on its image for a long time and is trying to nullify alcohol tourism and “comb” the resorts. Now it's time for new measures and regulations…

For example, the authorities of the famous picturesque town of Mogan, which is located in the southwestern part of Gran Canaria, one of the islands of Spain, did this. Officials have introduced several new rules to attract higher-level tourists and turn away those who come for booze. Travelers and locals are not allowed to dry their clothes on balconies, according to new guidelines published by local media.

They will also be prohibited from being “partially naked” on the street, i.e. For some time now, women have not been allowed to walk outside the beach in swimsuits, and men – in their underpants or shorts, exposing their torsos. In addition, the authorities banned drinking on the street and sleeping in public places. There are many cases when, after a wild night, tourists, mostly British, fell asleep right on the sidewalks and scared those around them with their appearance. In addition, other new rules have been introduced, including a ban on flyers on cars and fireworks in public places.

For violation of any of the rules, a fine will be imposed, the amount of which will vary depending on the severity of the offense. So, even a minor violation of the rules entails a considerable fine – 750 euros (47,000 rubles), and for a very serious violation, tourists can be fined up to 3,000 euros (188,000 rubles).

Help: Puerto de Mogán is a charming fishing village located in the southwest of Gran Canaria. The marina is popular among tourists, as well as the golden beaches of the city with calm water – they are loved by family tourists with children.

Sober rest

The pretty tourist village is not the first Spanish region to introduce tough new rules for tourists. Malaga also distinguished itself by the “severity” of the laws. So, the popular Spanish region introduced new restrictions on holding parties: stag and hen parties. It is now forbidden for tourists to carry sex dolls or any accessories in the form of genitals or costumes that have a “sexual character”. They can also be fined for walking the streets in their underwear and without clothing covering their bodies.

What are the risks for refusing to follow the rules? First, vacationers will be asked to go to the police station for an explanatory conversation, but in case of refusal, guests of the resort region face a fine. The fee is expected to be 750 euros (47,000 RUB) for violations of the new restrictions on stag and hen parties.
Note that the Spanish region is a really popular place to spend the so-called “last night of freedom”, as many Europeans travel on cheap flights.

In recent years, some locals have been annoyed by the noisy and violent behavior of visitors who are on vacation in a Spanish town, as if for the last time. For example, the authorities of another equally popular tourist destination – the Spanish Balearic Islands – also introduced new restrictions last year. Their rules are designed to suppress alcohol tourism. Foreign tourists will now be subject to a restriction on all-inclusive drinks, as well as a ban on alcoholic cruises.

To clarify, the rules do not apply to all islands, but are concentrated on certain noisy resorts, such like Magaluf, who is trying to change his reputation of hedonism and attract a different type of tourist.
