Tourists heading to and from Crimea in the coming days will have to use a ferry crossing. The reason is the emergency on the Crimean bridge, which is currently recognized as a terrorist attack.
According to official information, which was announced by the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, at 6:07 am on Saturday, a truck was blown up on the automobile part of the Crimean bridge from the side of the Taman Peninsula explosives. The explosion caused the detonation of fuel tanks in the train, at that moment following the bridge. Partially collapsed two car spans of the crossing, although only one line, i.e. aside from Taman to Crimea. However, traffic on the bridge has been temporarily stopped.
According to the information of the Crimean authorities, there are no victims or injured as a result of the terrorist act. For autotourists who are unable to leave because of the closed bridge, temporary parking lots have been organized near the village of Ilyich and at the fork of Taman-Volna.
The authorities have announced that in connection with the state of emergency for tourists, the ferry crossing will be “reopened”. “All logistical schemes in case of an emergency have been worked out,” Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of Crimea on the information policy, said.
The Crimean authorities also reported that “the damage is not severe” and the bridge will be restored in the near future. As the head of the Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, said, “according to visual assessment, one automobile thread from Kerch to Taman is intact. The ferry service is ready for launch, it will start working from today. We will inform you about the movement schedule additionally.”
