The range of countries where tours and direct flights from Russia are available may in the near future be replenished with another extremely popular country among our tourists. On Wednesday, May 10, Putin allowed flights to Georgia, repealing the decision of 2019. In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry withdrew the recommendation to Russians to refrain from traveling to Georgia. As a result, according to the estimates of tour operators, more or less mass organized tourism can “resurrect” at the end of May, and by this time tour operators will even be able to raise charters to Georgia.
Literally, the document posted on the official Internet portal of legal information contains a statement on recognizing as invalid the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated June 21, 2019 No. 287 “On certain measures to ensure the national security of the Russian Federation and protect citizens of the Russian Federation from criminal and other unlawful actions”, which just “closed” Georgia.
There was also a comment from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which it was reported in more detail that in connection with the cancellation of this decree, direct flights with Georgia are being resumed. “In addition, the recommendation of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated June 21, 2019 for Russian citizens to refrain from traveling to Georgia is cancelled. At the same time, when visiting this country, security aspects should be taken into account, exercising caution,” the Russian ministry added. By the way, the visa regime that Russia adopted with Georgia has also been canceled: Georgians will be able to enter the country through checkpoints open for international traffic without visas for up to 90 days.
Tourist business took this information as very inspiring. “Tours to Georgia are interesting for Russian tourists, there is a demand for them,” ATOR commented. At the same time, according to market experts, the first flights can be launched before the end of May.
