For the first time, planes will be launched to Father Frost's homeland: it will be easier for Russian tourists with children to get into the New Year's fairy tale

Planes will be launched to the homeland of Santa Claus for the first time: the schedule of flights to Veliky Ustyug has been approved. True, so far they are planned only from Vologda and Cherepovets. But, as the local authorities are sure, the service will be in demand, and it will be easier for Russian tourists with children to get into the New Year's fairy tale.

According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, the first flight from Cherepovets is scheduled for December 25. The schedule of flights to Veliky Ustyug from Vologda and Cherepovets was approved at a meeting between the regional governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov and the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko. It is as follows: planes will fly from Vologda every Tuesday and Thursday, from Cherepovets – on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Travel time will be one hour. Also in the near future we plan to organize flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg – though with transfers in Vologda and Cherepovets, respectively.

“It is symbolic that next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Father Frost Estate project. During this time, more than four million tourists visited the homeland of the winter wizard. I am sure that with the opening of the airport, the tourist flow will increase. We invite everyone to visit Santa Claus,” the regional governor said. He also expressed hope that the number of flights will be increased in the near future. The Federal Air Transport Agency, in turn, issued a permit for the operation of the reconstructed Veliky Ustyug Airport, where the runway was extended, driving beacons and lighting equipment were installed. Thanks to this, Veliky Ustyug will be able to receive new types of aircraft, including the Sukhoi Superjet 100.

It is also known that the flights will be operated by AP Severstal and JSC Vologda Aviation Enterprise. Ticket sales should start soon, while current prices are not available.
