Specifically, the smuggling consisted of eight gold rings with diamond inserts and a chain worth 1.7 million rubles. The examination showed that these are handmade products made of gold 585 and 750.

At the same time, a tourist who arrived from Turkey tried to carry jewelry through the “green” corridor without customs declaration. As a result, she admitted that she planned to sell the goods in her own accessories store.

“The actions of a citizen of the Russian Federation are seen as signs of a crime, responsibility for which is provided for by Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods and resources). The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles, ”the press service of the department explained.
