Most hotels in Egypt have raised prices by 15%. This was stated by Mohamed Fala, a member of the Red Sea Tourism Investors Association – we are talking about most hotels in Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm el-Sheikh. The reason is the increase in prices for raw materials, food and drinks, as well as for many other services included in the costs of the tourist program.
“Hotels with valid contracts with foreign tour operators have not increased prices and they will have to bear difference in price until the end of the contract,” he added. while the occupancy of hotels in the same Hurghada ranges from 60 to 65%, the expert added.
“Most of the tourists who are currently in tourist towns on the Red Sea are Germans, Czechs, Serbs and Poles. Germany tops the list of countries exporting tourists to Egypt since the beginning of this year,” he added. Separately, the expert clarified that the tourist flow from Russia to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada is currently still weak. “High flight prices have become one of the reasons for the decline in the number of Russian tourists coming to Egypt now,” he added.
