The presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey, which scared away some tourists from vacationing in this country, are scheduled for a second round, in which the two main candidates will participate. Meanwhile, according to the Turkish tourist media, in most resort provinces Erdogan loses to Kılıçdaroglu, most often by a large margin, although in the whole country Erdogan leads with a margin of almost 5% from his competitor, a little short of 50%, which would make a second round unnecessary.
Recall that the main candidates in the Turkish elections were the incumbent president, chairman of the AKP party and candidate from the People's Alliance Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his main opponent from the opposition, the chairman of the CHP and the candidate from the National Alliance, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who, we recall, promised to support sanctions against Russia.< /p>
The third candidate, Sinan Ogan, received only 5.2% of the vote and is out of the race. However, its presence prevented the main contenders from stepping over the necessary threshold of 50%. According to the data provided by the Turkish media, Erdogan received 49.3% of the vote, and Kılıçdaroglu – 45%.
However, the media also cite figures for the resort provinces – and they are seriously different. Not in favor of the incumbent.
The numbers are as follows:
- in the province of Antalya, the most popular among our tourists, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 53.13%, while Erdogan 39.85%;
- in the “cultural capital”, Istanbul, at Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu 48 .55%, while Erdogan has 46.68%;
- in Izmir, the numbers are even more defiant – Kemal Kılıçdaroglu has 63.29%, Erdogan has only 31.48%;
- similar figures in the resort province of Mugla – where Kemal Kilicdaroglu received 62.90%, and Erdogan 31.66%.
As a result, after processing 100% of the ballots in the presidential elections in Turkey, the current head of state Tayyip Erdogan is in the lead, but did not get more than 50% of the vote. Thus, the winner of the elections will be determined in the second round, which will take place in two weeks – on May 28. So it is possible that warnings for tourists will be effective on the eve of the summer season. Read more about them here.
