Regular and curious insured events, about which tourists turned to insurers in the summer season, were presented to the TURPROM correspondent by experts from the VSK Insurance House. The most common reasons for treatment were gastrointestinal diseases, diarrhea and nausea. But the unusual reasons turned out to be quite original.

“In Turkey, several tourists immediately turned to the insurance company after they were scratched by wild cats. There were such cases in Kemer, in Antalya, in Belek,” the experts said. A tourist in Hurghada was also unlucky with the animal world – there he was bitten by a monkey.

But mostly on vacation, tourists “toil their stomachs”: the most common reason for visiting doctors during summer holidays this year was diarrhea and nausea, 25% of visits under travel insurance policies are associated with this symptom. The top most common tourist complaints also included temperature (24% of visits), other signs of SARS (10%), ear pain (6%) and limb injuries (5%). At Russian resorts, the picture is similar: nausea and diarrhea – 30% of insured events. Sore throat, cough and other signs of colds take second place in the overall structure of requests – 29%. 7% of patients treated with ear pain, another 4% with limb injuries.

At the same time, Turkey became the first most popular tourist destination among Russians this summer. In this country, the top 3 most common diagnoses look similar. Also, more than 2% of calls were associated with edema (of the limbs, neck, eyes, face).
