Russians were caught on a popular island for organizing gambling for tourists

More than ten Russians face deportation from Bali. They were caught for organizing gambling for tourists – the police covered an underground poker tournament organized by the Russians. As a result, according to the Telegram channel Baza, the Russians are charged under two articles at once – not only for organizing gambling, but also for some kind of illegal work, and all of them face deportation.

According to Baza, , the tournament was held in a villa in the Canggu area. To take part in the tournament, according to the organizers, cost 2 million rupees (about 11 thousand rubles) from each. In total, 27 people took part in the tournament – the vast majority – 26, were citizens of Russia, as well as one Belarusian.

The police apparently “got a tip” as they swooped in in the midst of a “poker party” and detained everyone. At the same time, according to the source of “Baza”, the girls who were at the game were released on the same day. Detainees have problems. In fact, they are accused under two articles at once – firstly, gambling is prohibited in Indonesia, and tourists are also not allowed to organize paid tournaments – this is considered a kind of work and a violation of a tourist visa. As a result, the Russians face fines and deportation.

Recall that Russian tourists have come out on top in the number of deportations from Indonesia. For the period from January to March 2023, 14 Russians were expelled from Bali, which put Russian tourists in first place in the anti-rating in terms of the number of deportations from this popular resort. Such statistics were shared by the head of the special immigration bureau of the Indonesian island Teguh Sugito, RIA Novosti reports. Read more at this link.
