According to the department, after arriving in Russia, a tourist from St. Petersburg complained to doctors about a characteristic rash. As a result, with the help of the test systems of the Vector scientific center, the patient was diagnosed with monkeypox.
The Rospotrebnadzor also stated that the circle of contacts of the sick person was limited and the condition of everyone who had contact with the infected was monitored by specialists. In the tourist himself, the disease proceeds in a mild form. The ministry also assured that “due to the timely start of the epidemiological investigation, the possibility of further spread of the infection was stopped,” and also that the situation is under strict control.
Tourists were once again reminded that the disease reports itself with such first signs as high fever, severe headache, muscle discomfort, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, exhaustion.
At the moment, cases of monkeypox have been detected in 59 countries, the total number of cases has exceeded 9 thousand. This is the first case in Russia. Recall that WHO has not yet recognized this disease as a pandemic.
