Undeclared goods worth 2.5 million rubles were found by customs officers from a Russian tourist who returned from Dubai. According to Sheremetyevo Airport, the “smuggler” was caught by customs officers while trying to smuggle luxury brands, including Rolex watches and Gucci bags.
“At Sheremetyevo Airport, customs officers stopped an attempt by a 41-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation, who arrived from Dubai, to illegally import expensive watches, clothing and leather goods,” Sheremetyevo reported. They stressed that they tried to leave the tourists through the “green” corridor and did not declare the goods. However, the tourist seemed suspicious to the customs officers.
As a result, during the inspection of luggage, the inspector found two Rolex watches in branded packaging, 3 bags of such famous brands as Louis Vuitton and Gucci, as well as 4 items of clothing and shoes. “In her explanation, the passenger stated that she bought some of the things for herself, and the rest was given to her, she does not know the cost, she is not familiar with customs rules,” the experts added.
However, according to customs, “in actions citizens of the Russian Federation, there are signs of an offense, liability for which is provided for by part 1 of article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Non-declaring goods subject to customs declaration in the prescribed form.” At the same time, according to the customs examination, the total value of the goods that the smuggler tried to enter amounted to 2.5 million rubles.
