A Russian tourist was found dead in a hotel in the popular resort province of Odisha in India. The incident was reported on Friday by the local edition of The Print, citing police.
61-year-old compatriot Vladimir B. checked into a hotel in the city of Rayagada on Wednesday. As part of the group, along with him were four more Russian tourists and a guide, Jitendr Singh. The travelers were supposed to leave for the tourist city of Jaipor on Thursday morning. However, the group could not leave, the Russian “colleagues” were found lying unconscious in his room on the first floor of the hotel. Several empty wine bottles were lying next to him.
The tourist was urgently taken to the district hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead. “The deceased was taking medication for some heart diseases,” the guide told the doctors and police.
Based on the preliminary investigation, law enforcement officers issued a preliminary conclusion that the Russian died from excessive alcohol consumption. His family was informed about the incident through the Russian embassy. On Saturday, his son was supposed to fly to India, and only after that an autopsy and the exact cause of death would be carried out.
