Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoli and Russian Minister of Justice Konstantin Anatolyevich Chuychenko signed an extradition agreement in order to combat transnational organized crime and in connection with the growing number of Russians visiting Indonesia and investing in the country. Jasonna Laoli called the event an “important milestone” in Indonesia-Russia relations as it promotes cooperation and synergy in the fight against crime. “This agreement serves as an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to improve cooperation and collaboration in law enforcement, security and justice,” she said.
The Indonesian minister also noted that her country's strong partnership with Russia has lasted for more than 70 years and is developing in various areas, including trade, investment and culture. Bilateral trade is growing, reaching $2.7 billion in 2021. Indonesia has exported $1.6 billion worth of goods to Russia, becoming one of Russia's largest trading partners in Asia.
