Russians who bought tours are shocked: the Russian online booking service has announced a stoppage

In connection with the upcoming bankruptcy of the parent company, Svyaznoy Travel, a popular online travel service, announced. According to the company's statement (link), until June 26, support specialists will only provide services to support returns and changes. Experts attribute the situation to the general bankruptcy of Svyaznoy – the company intends to apply to the Moscow Arbitration Court with a corresponding statement.

Recall that the Svyaznoy Travel service was engaged in the sale of air tickets, it was also possible to buy train and bus tickets and book a hotel room through the company. In addition, the service offered transfer and insurance services. Also, since 2018, the service has been trying to sell organized tours.

Tourists were informed that work with current orders would last until June 26, 2023. For all questions, they were urged to contact by phone +7 936 937 34 63 or by mail travel@svyaznoy.ru.

At the same time, experts from the Russian edition of Forbes explained that the bankruptcy of the parent Svyaznoy is inevitable. It is connected primarily with the fact that the format of an independent cellular retailer is no longer in demand, and also, as experts assure, the company was “crippled” by the departure of large foreign companies and their marketing budgets. As a result, over the past year, Svyaznoy has accumulated a lot of claims for debt collection – the amount of claims against it exceeded 14 billion rubles.

In particular, VimpelCom demanded to recover 839 million rubles from the company, Merlion – 5 .6 billion rubles, and Alfa-Bank – 6 billion rubles. In October, Sovcombank was added to them with a debt of 2.5 billion rubles, and in January 2023 Aviapark made the same statement. Moreover, the Moscow Arbitration Court has already satisfied some of these claims. As a result, Svyaznoy intends to file a bankruptcy petition with the Moscow Arbitration Court, a document on behalf of the main legal entity of the company, Set Svyaznoy LLC, was published in the SPARK-Interfax database on February 13.
