In the event of a nuclear war between the United States and Russia, 5 billion people will die and with it the end of all tourism. A team of American, Norwegian and German climate scientists presented an apocalyptic future scenario.
According to studies published in the journal Nature, the number of people who died directly in the first moments of a nuclear war lasting just one week would be 350 million. As a result of the explosions, more than 150 teragrams (about 165 million tons) of soot are formed and nuclear winter will come. All this will lead to climate change and a reduction in food supplies on land and in water.
However, this tragedy does not end there. The number of deaths will increase significantly and reach 5 billion due to the famine caused by the war. The death of most people will not be instantaneous, they will die within a few years after the start of the disaster.
According to scientists, after a nuclear war between the two countries, the only piece of land where agriculture can remain relatively unaffected will be Australia and New Zealand. When people find out about this, a stream of people will rush there, but not as tourists, but as refugees.
At the same time, scientists have said that there are several nuclear war scenarios that could lead to similar amounts of smoke and, therefore, to similar climate shocks, including armed conflicts involving other nuclear powers – China, France, Great Britain, North Korea and Israel.
