The first charter resumed the flight program from Moscow to the famous resort island

The first Russian charter flew to the Maldives: according to the local press, Azur Air resumed flights to the famous resort island. The flights will last the entire winter season, while flights will be operated seven days a week on 336-seat Boeing 767 aircraft.

In the Maldives, this was perceived as a good signal, since before the sanctions hysteria and the closure of flights abroad, Russia was one of the most popular source markets for Maldives tourism.

In 2022, according to the Ministry of Tourism, as of September, 128,678 tourists from Russia visited the Maldives. At the same time, there has been a steady increase over the past three months. Local tourism authorities expect new Azur Air flights to invest in it.

In general, according to the Ministry of Tourism, the total number of tourists in the Maldives has already surpassed the results in 2021. Last year, the Maldives received 1.3 million tourists. This year, this number was reached on Wednesday, October 26th. So the total number of tourists is approaching the planned one: the government's goal for 2022 was to receive 1.6 million tourists this year – and this goal will be able to reach the paradise islands before the end of the year.

Average in October to the Maldives about 5,000 tourists arrived daily. At the same time, Russia is held in second place. It is inferior only to India, from where 186 thousand tourists arrived. The result of Russia is about 160 thousand. In third place is the UK with a result of 145 thousand tourists.
