They go to Turkey and Egypt, but dream about something else: the Russians named the country of their dreams for vacation

The dream destination of Russian tourists is not mass Turkey or Egypt, but Italy. It is here, in a European country, that most of our compatriots want to spend their holidays. Such a conclusion was made by the NAFI analytical center based on a survey.

By the way, from June 1, Italy changed the rules for entry – details here.

Russian tourists were asked if they like to travel, and if so, in which countries they most want to go on vacation. 84% of respondents answered that they like to travel and only 16% were homebodies. In addition, the majority answered that they dream of vacationing in Italy (28%). Turkey ranks second (23%) and France ranks third (18%). 17% of study participants said they want to vacation in China, and 15% – in Egypt.

However, the real picture of travel looks different. For example, according to the results of the covid 2021, the data of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation indicate a different trend: among 32 foreign countries open to Russians, 2/3 of the Russian tourist flow fell on only three countries: Turkey (46.5%), Abkhazia (14.8%) and Egypt (10.4%). The fourth place belongs to the United Arab Emirates, the fifth – to Cyprus. Italy didn't even make it into the top 10. This was largely due to covid restrictions and the requirement to present a vaccination certificate with a mark of receiving a foreign-made vaccine (the Italian authorities did not accept the Russian Sputnik V).

As for the pre-COVID 2019, the data of the Border Guard Service The FSB of the Russian Federation recorded the following: the first place in the outbound tourist flow from Russia was taken by Turkey, the second by Abkhazia, the third by Finland, the fourth by Kazakhstan, the fifth by China, and the sixth by Ukraine. Italy took only ninth place in the ranking, losing to Germany.
